A gift of publicly traded securities is a tax-efficient way to support educational awards for young women while maximizing your personal tax benefits.

When you donate stocks or mutual funds directly to the Trust, you pay 0% capital gains tax on any appreciation in value, so more money goes directly toward funding scholarships.

Most transfers can be completed electronically through your broker.

How to Gift Securities

Identify Your Opportunity
Look for stocks, bonds, or mutual funds in your portfolio that have grown in value.
Consult Your Advisor
Speak with a financial or tax professional to see how a gift of securities fits your plans.
Initiate the Transfer
Instruct your broker to transfer your securities directly to The Charitable Trust of the CFUW A/N (not through a sale) to avoid capital gains tax.
Maximize Your Impact
We will provide a charitable receipt for your tax return based on the full market value of your gift.

A Smart Way to Give and Save

As a registered charity (Registrations no. 81694 7584 RR0001), we will provide an official tax receipt for the full market value of your gift.
For gifts of appreciated securities, your receipt will reflect the value on the date of transfer, allowing you to eliminate capital gains tax while maximizing your charitable impact.
To assist with your financial planning, all donation receipts are issued in January or February of the following year.
