Active Pursuits

Interest Groups

Walk, hike, explore, and stay active with groups that bring members together outdoors and in motion.

Whether you're a seasoned birder or simply curious about the birds in our area, everyone is welcome. We meet once a month to explore local trails and parks, enjoy nature, and learn together.

No experience needed-just bring your curiosity (and binoculars if you have them)! Two helpful apps: eBird and Merlin Bird ID. Join us for fresh air, fun, and feathered friends.

Bird Watching Club

This group enjoys year-round gentle hikes on trails and paths in the area. We bring a drink or snack, a folding chair (and a blanket in winter) to tailgate and visit after a one-hour walk.

Gentle Hikers

Join these active members for a couple of hours Tuesday mornings between September and June. Hike along the Oak Ridges Moraine, York Region Forest, or other local trails, then socialize over coffee.

Hiking Group

Join this group on Thursday mornings for some fun and exercise. No experience necessary. Just bring your pickleball racquet and a smile.

Summer Pickleball is played on outdoor courts in the area. Winter Pickleball players share an indoor court in Newmarket.

Pickleball – Seasonal

Walkers meet at various locations for brisk Monday morning walks year round.‍ ‍ From December through to March, all members are welcome to join for a walk and/or coffee in Newmarket, 9:30–10:30 a.m., starting on the west side of David Duncan Way (north of Timothy Street, beside the skating rink). No commitment needed for winter walks.
